BR Southern Region Schools Tender Snowplough kits coming in 4mm/OO scale

Exciting news for anyone modelling the British Rail Southern Region from 1964 to 1991.

12A Models’ newest kit in 4mm/OO is the independent snowplough built on former tenders from Maunsell Schools class locomotives.

Numbering 8 in total, four depots across the region were allocated a pair each, namely New Cross Gate, Eastleigh, Salisbury and Ashford.

Usually worked in pairs, these ploughs, classified ZZV by BR, would be coupled either end to a class 33 for clearing snowdrifts from the line.

Like our previous kits, each comes as a mix of printed resin and PLA components, to assure you of both rigidity and ease of construction, as well as fine details. The chassis unit is a single piece, so again you do not have to worry about building this square and true. It already is!

The builder has a choice when it comes to wheel options. We do not supply wheels with this kit but instead offer a flexible approach. The model can be built with 16mm pinpoint spoked wheel sets, 16mm plain axle spoked wheels or 14mm plain axle spoked wheels. A shim is provided for those using 14mm wheels to produce the correct ride height.

The weather is not ideal for printing right now and is producing its own set of challenges, but we aim to have these available late July. Price TBC
