The ‘Trib Train’ was developed to address the persistent problem of low friction between wheels and rails, known as adhesion. First deployed in 1972, its main objective was to confirm laboratory test results on surface contaminants on the railhead.

This resin printed kit is for the cab end for the RTC’s “Trib Train” Auto Trailer ADB975076.
It has been engineered to fit the Bachmann Mk1 BSK coach.

This kit allows modelers to recreate part of the iconic Tribometer Train, which was a familiar sight on British Rail during the 1970s and 80s. The train consisted of an auto-trailer (RDB97507), Laboratory 11 (RDB975046), and COV-AB (RDB999900) and played a crucial role in railway testing. In 1996, the train’s final mission was to compare portable tribometers with a full-scale version, after which it was decommissioned.

To complete the model you will need:

Bachmann Mk1 BSK donor coach (not included) is required for the conversion.
Superglue, filler, and “Glue and Glaze” or Humbrol Clearfix for securing glazing.
Additional parts like buffer heads, windscreen wipers, paints, and varnish are needed to finish the build.
