A full kit to convert the Triang / Hornby VIX Ferry Van from a toy to a very nice looking representation of these British Rail era cross-channel freight stalwarts.
A full chassis kit with sprung rotating NEM coupling pockets to help negotiate the tightest of corners on these long-wheelbase vehicles.
The chassis replaces the old chunky and somewhat ugly toy chassis with a much more refined and detailed piece with performance to match.
Included in the kit are two axles of Bachmann 12mm wheels and brass pinpoint axle bearings for smooth running.
The revised chassis also allows the sliding doors to be retained, albeit with a new mechanism that is super-simple to fit. Even one of the newer RtR models on the market does not provide this level of adaptability.
Worried about building a chassis square and true? No need, we have printed the chassis from a single piece of PLA so the W-Irons and chassis solebar are already true and in alignment. Separate resin details are included to add those fine details such as springs and hangers, buffers, switches, lifting rings, vacuum cylinder, end bracing bars and handbrake levers / pin-down bars.
Brass / nickel silver rod is also included to make up handrails and coupling pocket springs, along with a bending jig to make the handrails to the correct length and shape.
Full instructions are included with step-by-step guides on how to complete this very simple kit.
Requires Hornby / Triang body shell and doors to complete.
